Born and raised in Northern California, Brett began his career working at Skywalker Ranch on STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH. After two years working under George Lucas in the film’s editorial department, he attended USC’s prestigious Cinematic Arts program where he simultaneously earned an MFA degree while continuing to work in editorial as an assistant editor on James Cameron’s AVATAR.
After receiving multiple awards for his student films, he transitioned into commercial and documentary filmmaking in 2008. He has directed over 65 commercial works for clients such as Toyota, Samsung, Google, Pepsi, Microsoft, IBM, and Facebook and his campaigns have garnered millions of views, several Webby Awards, and a Cannes Lion.
In 2018, Brett completed his first feature-length documentary titled, Fire on the Hill: the Cowboys of South Central LA. The film highlights Brett’s unique expertise for capturing authentic, personal stories in a cinematically rich way that he carries with him into each of his commercial works. His passion to immerse himself into international cultures has led to work in Canada, Europe, India, the Middle East and it continues to generate projects both domestically and abroad.
